Argentina's protest at the UN due to the presence of the Kosovo Security Forces in the Malvinas Islands
Guillermo Carmona, Secretary of the Malvinas Islands Department at the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his displeasure at the UN meeting with the presence of military troops from Kosovo and Great Britain in the Malvinas, stressing that this decision was against international laws.
As reported by the Argentine media and quoted by Demokracia, Carmona believes that the arrival of the Kosovo Security Forces in coordination with the United Kingdom in the mission to the Malvinas specifically means a "provocation" of Britain.
The Ambassador of Argentina in Belgrade, Osvaldo Marsico, recently stated in an interview for Kosovo Online that his country "strongly condemns the deployment of the so-called Kosovo Special Forces on the Malvinas Islands".
"It is a unilateral act of the United Kingdom contrary to the UN General Resolution 37/9 which calls on both parties in the dispute over sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands and the surrounding sea areas to precisely refrain from unilateral acts that prejudice the outcome of the negotiations. It further militarizes this area in opposition to the UN General Assembly Resolution 41/11 declaring the South Atlantic a zone of peace and cooperation. Ten resolutions of the UN General Assembly and over 40 resolutions of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization expressly recognize the existence of a sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the Malvinas Islands and accordingly exclude the application of the principle of self-determination when it comes to this particular case of decolonization," Marsico said.
