Djuric with Ferguson: International presence important for peace, stability, and security in Kosovo and Metohija
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, during a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Serbia, Edward Ferguson, emphasized the importance of maintaining the international presence for peace, stability, and security in Kosovo.
Djuric and Ferguson discussed advancing bilateral cooperation, strengthening political and economic relations, as well as current issues of mutual interest.
He stressed that the continuation of regular political dialogue at the high and highest levels was of exceptional importance for further strengthening relations between the two countries, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Djuric particularly emphasized the importance of last year's visit by then UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, during which memoranda were signed that contribute to strengthening cooperation in key areas such as the economy and trade, cybersecurity, the fight against organized crime, and migration.
The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its support for Serbia on its path toward full membership in the European Union.
Speaking about the situation in Kosovo, Djuric emphasized the importance of maintaining the international presence for peace, stability, and security, as well as the need for UN Security Council sessions on UNMIK to continue to be held regularly and in an open format.
Regarding economic relations, Djuric assessed that economic cooperation between Serbia and the United Kingdom was developing dynamically, particularly over the past several years, adding that the United Kingdom ranked among the ten largest foreign investors in Serbia.
