Political analyst Avni Arifi stated in an interview with Gazeta Blic that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, by mentioning the number of votes required for electing the president, undermined the meeting with the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku.

Kurti and Abdixhiku met today to discuss the issue of the presidential election. However, the meeting did not yield a positive outcome, i.e. no agreement was reached, and Kurti stated that he needs 84 or 85 votes to secure the election of the president.
“The meeting was held merely so it could be said that it took place. Whenever Kurti mentions 84–85 votes, he is effectively insulting Abdixhiku and rendering the meeting with the LDK meaningless. He is even inviting him while simultaneously signaling that he is not sufficient,” Arifi said.
As for a potential meeting with the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Arifi noted that the party has changed its strategy and is no longer allowing Kurti to “lead it by the nose,” adding that whether an agreement will be reached depends on Kurti.
“The PDK has changed its strategy this time. Whether there will be an agreement or not depends on Kurti, and when it depends on him, the outlook is bleak,” Arifi told for Gazeta Blic.
