Berisha meets with Canaj: National Council of Albanians continues to refuse any form of communication
The Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Demo Berisha, met with the Ambassador of Albania to Serbia, Bardil Canaj, noting that, despite challenges in relations between the two countries, it is necessary to open new chapters aimed at intensifying bilateral relations and improving the position of the Albanian community in Serbia.
In this context, the meeting addressed the establishment of modalities of cooperation that would contribute to improving the status of both peoples and resolving issues through open dialogue, as the fundamental mechanism of cooperation, the Ministry stated.
Berisha pointed out that the National Council of the Albanian National Minority continues to refuse any form of communication with the competent ministry, which, in his assessment, does not contribute to improving the position of the citizens it represents, but rather deepens existing challenges and slows down the resolution of problems.
“Dialogue is the only sustainable and responsible path toward resolving outstanding issues and improving the rights and position of all national minorities, as it implies mutual respect, exchange of arguments, and a joint search for sustainable solutions in the interest of citizens,” Berisha emphasized.
He conveyed that the competent ministry remains open to dialogue at all times, as this is essential for overcoming challenges, while adding that he expects a responsible approach from all stakeholders involved in the process.
