Brnabic to Roth: You support Kurti as he creates the last ghetto in Europe

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, told the President of the Foreign Policy Committee of the German Bundestag, Michael Roth, that he supports Albin Kurti, who created the last ghetto in Europe "in which people can be shot, arrested, tortured and denied the right to vote, just because they are Serbs".

Brnabic responded on Twitter to Roth's call for the EU and the US to review their strategy towards the Western Balkans and Serbia, criticizing President Aleksandar Vucic for "undermining the leading principles of the European Union and encouraging nationalism and hatred".

Brnabic defined this accusation by Roth as an example of the so-called policy of "accusations in the mirror" (AiM).

"By definition, AiM is a hate-speech incitement technique where one falsely attributes to one’s adversaries the intentions one has for oneself. You basically accuse President Aleksandar Vucic of nationalism and hatred, even though he was the first Prime Minister of Serbia to host the Prime Minister of Albania in the last 68 years and publicly called for "historic reconciliation" between Serbs and Albanians. It's just one of the many things he's done in the last 10 years," she said on Twitter.

On that occasion, Brnabic stated that Roth underestimates Serbia's actions, while, on the other hand, he supports Kurti who said that the Brussels Agreement did not exist.

"At the same time, you call on the EU and the US to punish Serbia ("reshape the strategy towards Serbia"). Why? Because we implemented the Brussels Agreement? Because we supported regional cooperation (we built a highway to North Macedonia, we are building it to Tirana and Sarajevo, we donated vaccines...)? You say this while all the time you support Albin Kurti, who actually created the last ghetto in Europe where people can be shot, arrested, tortured and denied the right to vote, just because they are Serbs. Kurti, who said in Berlin that the Brussels Agreement did not exist," said Brnabic.

She added that such actions are hate speech against Serbia "for things that you can solely attribute to your allies".

"I believe with all my heart that you didn't intend to do that, but that's exactly what you did," replied Ana Brnabic.
