CEC published a list of polling stations – fewer polling stations, in North Mitrovica only in Albanian settlements
The Central Election Commission has published the list of polling centers for tomorrow's vote for the replacement of mayors in four municipalities in northern Kosovo. The number of polling stations has been reduced compared to previous election processes, and polling stations are located in settlements where Albanians predominantly live.
Voters in Leposavic are allocated to eight polling stations this time – in the municipality building in Leposavic, the municipal building in Socanica, a private facility in the village of Rvatska, and a public facility in the settlement of Dren.
Voters will also be able to vote in the DP "Universal" building in Lesak, in Kosutovo, as well as in a private facility near the bus station in Leposavic and the "Kadr i Bistrica" Elementary School in Bistrica.
In previous local elections, the citizens of Leposavic were allocated to 19 polling stations.
In North Mitrovica, five polling centers have been designated.
Three polling centers will be in the Bosniak Mahala, one at the International College IBCM, another on the floor where the "Emona" supermarket is located, which previously housed the Administrative Office of the Municipality of North Mitrovica, and in the building of the Municipality of North Mitrovica.
Polling stations will also be set up at the "Aziz Sulejmani" school in Suvi Do, a settlement where predominantly Albanians were registered in previous elections. The fifth polling center will be in the outpost department of the "Aziz Sulejmani" school located in Mikronaselje.
The arrangement of polling centers in North Mitrovica is such that they are located in settlements where four percent of voters live out of the 18,796 registered in the electoral roll. Moreover, this number is 250 higher compared to the preliminary electoral roll.
Additionally, the arrangement of polling centers – on the outskirts of North Mitrovica, represents violations of applicable laws in Kosovo.
Unlike the previous 13 polling centers, the citizens of Zubin Potok will now have access to five polling stations.
They will be able to vote for the replacement of the mayor in the building of the Municipality, a public facility in the settlement of Mala Jabuka, in the village of Bubin Most, as well as in the settlements of Brnjak and in the "Osman Rama" Elementary School in Cabra.
In Zvecan, citizens will be able to exercise their voting rights at five locations for tomorrow's vote, which is two polling stations fewer compared to the previous election process.
The polling centers in Zvecan for tomorrow's vote are in the municipal building, the "Isa Boletini" school in the Zale settlement, the school of the same name in the village of Lipa, the "Rajska Banja" complex in Banjska, and the municipal building in Zitkovac.
According to current laws, a maximum of 850 voters can be registered at polling stations where citizens vote, and the premises designated as polling centers do not meet these conditions.
In total, 33 schools in northern Kosovo refused to allow access to the Municipal Election Commissions to conduct voting on April 21, while 10 schools gave their consent.
As a result, the Central Election Commission had to provide alternative voting centers.
