The Central Election Commission has received petitions for the dismissal of mayors in four municipalities in northern Kosovo

The Central Election Commission has received petitions for the dismissal of mayors from all four municipalities in northern Kosovo, and the president of the CEC stated that the process of verifying signatures could take longer, Koha reports.
"We have received petitions from four municipalities, and in the future, signature verification will be carried out. There is a large number of signatures, and time is needed for confirmation," the chairman of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi said.
The President of the Assembly of North Mitrovica, Nexhat Uglanin, stated that it was now up to the CEC to continue the dismissal process through other procedures.
After collecting voter signatures, petitions are submitted to the presidents of the municipal assemblies, who have a deadline of three days to forward them to the Central Election Commission (CEC) for consideration and verification. The next step is organizing a vote for the dismissal of mayors, which must be held within 45 days.
The voting results are then sent to the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who has a legal deadline of 30 to 45 days to call for snap elections in the four municipalities in northern Kosovo.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated yesterday that elections in municipalities with a Serb majority in the north could be held in the next few months.
"It could be this year – in the next few months," Kurti said.
