After an emergency session of the National Security Council, Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic addressed the media, stating that the situation in Kosovo is burdened by the constant extremist policy of the Pristina leadership.

Dacic said that the session concluded that while the political situation is stable, it is burdened by numerous challenges.

"As for the geopolitical challenges, as you know, the global situation is increasingly moving in the direction of conflict, despite the instability and the burden of ongoing conflicts. Serbia must ensure itself in such a situation and secure reserves, but of course, it must also conduct a successful policy that will allow us to avoid suffering the consequences of these major geopolitical conflicts. The situation in Kosovo and Metohija is burdened by the constant extremist policy of the Pristina leadership, which is not focused on finding peaceful solutions but on further arming and carrying out violent actions and incidents that are ethnically motivated, aimed at expelling Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija," Dacic said.

As he emphasized, there are also security problems that are burdened by internal reasons.

"Our laws and Constitution allow peaceful gatherings, but disturbing public order and peace, as well as endangering the security of the country and institutions, especially attacks on the police, will be characterized as attacks on an official in the performance of their official duties. We call on everyone to respect the law, and against those who use violence or attack state and social property, appropriate criminal and misdemeanor charges will be filed," the minister stressed.

He concluded that the security situation remains stable despite all external and internal pressures.

"The state will do everything to resist challenges, leading a wise policy and calling for the respect of legality within the country, regardless of ideological differences. I remind you that most of these gatherings were not reported at all. If they are to be held in accordance with the law, all gatherings must be reported. For those who break the law, charges will be filed, and this has nothing to do with politics but with violence," Dacic said, once again repeating that the security situation in Serbia is stable.

"The state will pursue a policy that is in the best interest of the citizens. We will take care to do what is best for Serbia and protect our national and state interests, while also protecting our goal, such as our path to the European Union," Dacic emphasized.
