The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Djuric, hosted today a delegation of the French Institute for Political Training (Institut de Formation Politique), which is on a study visit to Serbia. In the course of the discussions, Minister Djuric emphasized that the issue of Kosovo represents the most fundamental state and national question, as well as the greatest challenge Serbia is facing.

Minister Djuric presented to the delegation of young leaders, led by the Institute’s Director Alexandre Pesey, the key foreign policy priorities of Serbia, underscoring that the preservation of peace and stability in the region, European integration, and the development of partnerships with all countries constitute the foundations of Serbia’s diplomatic engagement.

He stressed that Serbia pursues an independent, balanced, and responsible foreign policy, grounded in the principles of military and political neutrality, which enables it to simultaneously foster relations with partners across the globe.

Speaking about the country’s geopolitical position, Minister Djuric underlined that Serbia consistently implements a policy of peace, dialogue, and regional stability, advocating for the deepening of cooperation within the Western Balkans. He highlighted that a stable and economically interconnected region is a prerequisite for development and a better quality of life for all citizens.

With regard to Kosovo, Djuric reiterated that it remains the most fundamental state and national issue and the greatest challenge Serbia faces. He emphasized that Belgrade remains firmly committed to dialogue within the process conducted under the auspices of the European Union, but that we are also witnessing the persistent obstruction by Pristina, which prevents the attainment of a compromise solution.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also drew attention to the importance of preserving cultural identity and to the efforts that Serbia invests in developing and enhancing demographic policy, noting that these priorities are an inseparable part of the state’s long-term vision and the foundation for the future development of society.

Minister Djuric responded to numerous questions from the young leaders, who expressed great interest in Serbia’s foreign policy orientation, its regional role, and its relations with the European Union and other international partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia announced.

The delegation of the French Institute for Political Training spent five days in Serbia, during which it held meetings with government officials and representatives of civil society. During their stay, the members of the delegation also visited Kosovo, where they were acquainted with the current situation and the challenges faced by the Serbian community.

The Institute for Political Training was established in 2004 and is dedicated to educating young people who wish to actively participate in politics, the media, and public life, promoting the values of responsibility, tradition, and freedom of thought.
