Djuric and Okamura discuss dialogue and the situation of Serbs in Kosovo
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Djuric, met today, during his visit to the Czech Republic, with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Tomio Okamura, to discuss the advancement of bilateral relations, the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation, as well as the dialogue with Pristina and the position of Serbs in Kosovo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Djuric underlined that relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic are characterized by sincere friendship and close ties between the two nations, emphasizing that the Czech Republic represents an important foreign policy partner for Serbia. He reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation and intensifying political dialogue at all levels.
Djuric expressed his appreciation for the Czech Republic’s continuous support for Serbia’s European path, which remains one of the country’s strategic priorities.
Addressing economic cooperation, Djuric highlighted its dynamic growth in recent years, as well as the increasing inflow of Czech investments into the Serbian market. He stressed that Serbia is an economically stable country which, over the past decade, has more than doubled its gross domestic product and created a favorable environment for attracting foreign investment.
With regard to the current situation in Kosovo, Djuric briefed his interlocutor on the difficult position of the Serbian population, adding that Belgrade remains committed to dialogue, while at the same time resolutely safeguarding its national interests.
Taking into account the importance of further strengthening interparliamentary dialogue, the Serbian Foreign Minister welcomed the forthcoming visit of the President of the Czech Parliament to Serbia, at the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic. He added that the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group with the Czech Republic further confirms the commitment to developing interparliamentary cooperation.
