Djuric with Berendsen: Serbia recognizes the Netherlands as an important partner in the EU accession process

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today in Brussels, on the sidelines of the meeting of EU foreign ministers and Western Balkan partners, with his Dutch counterpart Tom Berendsen, to whom he conveyed that Serbia recognizes the Netherlands as an important partner in the process of accession to the Union, given its significant role in the context of the dynamics of enlargement.

As announced by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Djuric and Berendsen discussed bilateral issues, as well as possibilities for further improving cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Djuric reiterated that EU membership is Serbia’s strategic commitment and foreign policy priority, adding that the opening of Cluster 3 would contribute to accelerating the negotiation process.

He pointed to the potential benefits of the gradual accession of Western Balkan partners to the Schengen Area and the European Union Single Market.

Recalling that the Netherlands is an important economic partner for Serbia and one of its largest foreign investors, the head of Serbian diplomacy expressed readiness for further strengthening relations.
