Djuric discusses Kosovo and European integration with Giaufret

Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today with Deputy Managing Director for Western Europe at the European External Action Service Emanuele Giaufret, telling him, with regard to Kosovo, that Belgrade remained committed to the EU-facilitated dialogue and expected the process to deliver concrete results and help build sustainable trust.

Djuric and Giaufret discussed the situation in Kosovo, Serbia’s European path, as well as current regional and international issues.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Djuric reiterated that EU membership remained a strategic foreign policy commitment for Serbia, stressing the great importance of keeping enlargement policy a priority for both EU institutions and member states.

The Serbian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of continuous and substantive political dialogue between Serbia and the EU with a view to advancing reforms within the accession process, strengthening stability and improving connectivity across the Western Balkans.

Regarding Kosovo, Djuric stressed the importance of preserving peace, stability and security, as well as the need for consistent implementation of the agreements reached and commitments undertaken to date.

He reiterated that Serbia remained firmly committed to the EU-facilitated dialogue, with the expectation that the process would produce concrete results and contribute to building sustainable trust.

Speaking about the situation in the region, Djuric said that Serbia devoted considerable attention to advancing regional cooperation and further strengthening mutual understanding and respect.

According to him, particularly in circumstances where differing views exist on individual issues, dialogue remains the most important instrument for building trust and gradually identifying mutually acceptable solutions.
