Djuric: Kurti's government once again demonstrates disregard for the rights of Serbs; international community should respond

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated that Albin Kurti's government has once again demonstrated its disregard for the rule of law and the rights of Serbs in Kosovo.

Djuric said that several developments over the past few days amounted to increased pressure on the Serbian community. 

"Over the past several days, we have witnessed the demolition of Serbian-owned property at Gazivode Lake despite ongoing court proceedings and warnings from the European Union, illegal construction works within the protected zone of Visoki Decani Monastery in violation of Kosovo's legislation and the 2020 agreement, as well as new administrative obstacles aimed at hindering the arrival of pilgrims of the Serbian Orthodox Church," Djuric wrote on the social media platform X.

According to him, these are not isolated technical issues but part of a broader pattern of conduct.

"These are not isolated technical issues. They represent a deliberate pattern of pressure targeting the property rights of Serbs, freedom of religion, and the Visoki Decani site, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List," Djuric said.

He called on the international presence in Kosovo to respond.

"I firmly believe that the international presence—the European Union, the OSCE, and KFOR, within the scope of their respective mandates—should respond decisively in order to prevent the creation of a fait accompli and to safeguard the rule of law," Djuric concluded.
