The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Djuric, stated during the margins of the Munich Security Conference that he had discussions with the U.S. President's Special Missions Advisor Richard Grenell, emphasizing that Serbia aims to establish a new era in the relations between the region and the new U.S. administration, while taking into account its own interests.

Djuric highlighted that Grenell and the U.S. Vice President JD Vance were the biggest "stars" of the conference in Munich, given that the topic of transatlantic relations between Europe and the U.S. is of crucial importance.

"It is very important for us to use the changes that have occurred in the internal politics in America to also make this a new era in the relations between our country, our region, and the USA. And we, responsibly, taking into account primarily Serbian interests in the entire region, are working precisely on that," said Djuric. The minister emphasized that during his stay in Munich, he had discussions with numerous ministers and officials from the region and beyond.

He stressed that the Serbian delegation sent a message to all participants that the country is open for cooperation.

"And what is very important for us, Serbia was present, we sent a message to all participants that we are open for business, that we are stable, future-oriented. That in a year which will see many challenges and various anniversaries in the region - from Operation Storm, Srebrenica, the anniversary of the liberation of Jasenovac, the anniversary of the Dayton Agreement - we are thinking about how to solve problems, not create new ones, to preserve the dignity and our people, Serbian interests, to maintain respect both for our own and for others' victims," Djuric noted.

He expressed confidence that the region has great potential to become key to the development of Europe, which, as he emphasized, Serbia has already proven.

"I believe that despite all the challenges inherited from the past, our region is one of the areas with great potential to be a driving force in the development of Europe, and Serbia has already proven that it is", Djuric said.
