Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Djuric, stated that the Kosovo government led by Albin Kurti today targeted Christian Serbs on the holiest night of the Orthodox Christian calendar in Kosovo, assessing that these are not isolated incidents but rather reflect a troubling and consistent pattern of pressure, intimidation, and interference with the religious freedoms of the Serbian community.

Writing on the social network X, Djuric said that the Kosovo Police prevented the mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica from lawfully displaying a traditional Christmas greeting in a predominantly Christian Serbian area.
The head of Serbian diplomacy also pointed out that, in other locations, citizens were forced to remove clothing bearing Christian symbols, and that in Prizren a political activist disguised as a priest attempted to disrupt and desecrate Christmas celebrations.
“These are not isolated incidents. They reflect a troubling and consistent pattern of pressure, intimidation, and interference with religious freedoms directed at a specific community. With every such act, Mr. Kurti’s personal moral, political, and legal debt continues to accumulate. He should be very aware of this,” Djuric emphasized.
He recalled that on this day three years ago, two Serbian boys were shot by a member of the Kosovo Security Forces while they were participating in a traditional Christian Christmas ritual, and that the person who shot them remains at liberty in Albin Kurti’s Kosovo.
“Mr. Kurti, your actions constitute a serious violation of fundamental democratic values and religious freedoms. Moreover, you know exactly what you are doing. You should know that there will be no place for hatred in the future of Serbs and Albanians. What you are doing is a true disgrace to the Albanian people, and you should be ashamed,” Djuric concluded.
