Djuric meets with Mali’s Foreign Minister, thanks the country for its support for Serbia’s sovereignty

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali, Abdoulaye Diop, who is leading the African country’s delegation at the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. During the meeting, Djuric thanked the Republic of Mali for its principled support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

Welcoming his counterpart, Djuric expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to meet and hold talks in Belgrade, which will host an important gathering of the historic core of the Non-Aligned Movement in the coming days, the statement said.

Djuric also stressed that September 1 is observed in Serbia as Non-Aligned Day, in remembrance of Belgrade’s historic role in the establishment of the Movement and as a reaffirmation of Serbia’s commitment to remaining consistent in its policy of peace, cooperation, and equality among nations.

“The head of Serbian diplomacy stressed that Serbia and Mali are bound by decades of good relations, bearing in mind that Serbia carries forward Yugoslavia’s legacy of relations with African countries, with which it seeks to strengthen political, economic, educational, and cultural ties. Djuric thanked the Republic of Mali for its principled support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia,” the statement said.

Along with strengthening political dialogue at all levels, the Serbian Foreign Minister also highlighted the importance of economic cooperation as a means of further advancing the comprehensive relations between the two countries. The two officials also discussed cooperation in agriculture and education, which is already being successfully implemented through the “World in Serbia” scholarship program for international students.

Djuric expressed his satisfaction that Mali will showcase the country’s potential, culture, and vision at the prestigious Expo 2027 international exhibition in Belgrade.
