Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric emphasized that the world is undergoing a process of transformation and that the country must be prepared for it, stressing that 2026 will be a year of continuous struggle and hard work, with the absolute priority being Serbia’s state and national interests.

“In 2026, expect the unexpected. Our guiding principle is to preserve stability, peace, and economic development. There is no doubt that, for us, the state and national interests of Serbia represent absolute priorities in our work,” Djuric said in a video message posted on Instagram.

To that end, he announced that strengthening political capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue this year, in order to better understand the changes taking place.

“We will continue to open embassies and consulates and to strengthen the Ministry in terms of personnel. All of this forms the background to what is our everyday task, namely to develop, enhance, and nurture our many friendships,” the head of Serbian diplomacy said.

He pointed out that Serbia is developing strategic partnerships with nine countries, and that there are many states that are current and future friends.

“This year is a year of continuous struggle and work. The world is being reshaped in the years ahead, and we must be prepared,” Minister Djuric concluded.
