Djuric thanked Aliyev for his firm stance on the issue of not recognizing Kosovo
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Djuric, began a two-day visit to Azerbaijan today with a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, whom he thanked for Baku's firm and unequivocal stance on not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.
The Serbian Foreign Minister, Marko Djuric, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized that Serbia is clearly and unequivocally committed to further strengthening political dialogue and intensifying overall bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan. He expressed confidence that the friendship between the two countries will become even stronger and more fruitful in the future.
During the meeting, as stated in the press release from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Djuric conveyed greetings from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Aliyev, noting that the friendship nurtured by the two presidents undoubtedly gives additional strength to the strategic partnership between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
Djuric thanked Azerbaijan for its firm and unequivocal stance on not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, stating that the relations between our two countries are characterized by traditional friendship, mutual respect, understanding, and support.
"We highly appreciate your support for Serbia's efforts to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and in this regard, I would like to emphasize Serbia's full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan," Djuric stated.
According to him, Serbia will continue to work diligently to protect its state and national interests, as well as to maintain peace and stability in the region and to promote economic connectivity and progress in the Western Balkans.
Reflecting on current geopolitical developments, the Serbian Foreign Minister remarked that the partnership and friendship between Serbia and Azerbaijan are especially important given the turbulent events on the global stage.
During the conversation, it was noted that there is significant room for enhancing economic cooperation, which has great potential to match the existing high level of political relations and friendly ties, as well as for continuing the development of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
