Brnabic with Bayramov: Azerbaijan's principled stance of not recognizing Kosovo

Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, today, who during their conversation, emphasized Azerbaijan's firm and principled stance in supporting Serbia's efforts to preserve sovereignty and territorial integrity, as evidenced by Azerbaijan's vote against the decision to initiate the procedure for considering Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.

Brnabic emphasized that the relations between the two countries were at the highest historical level, as best evidenced by the two presidential visits carried out last year within only a month, as announced by the Government of Serbia.

Brnabic expressed her gratitude for Azerbaijan's support in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. She also conveyed that the strong and substantive relations between the two countries should be further expanded into other areas of cooperation, including energy, economy, agriculture, as well as the pharmaceutical industry, and biotechnology.

Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan's firm and principled stance in supporting Serbia's efforts to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He stated that Azerbaijan's support in international organizations would continue unconditionally, as demonstrated by its vote against the decision to initiate the procedure for considering Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.

Minister Bayramov noted that Serbia's economic progress had become even more visible since his last visit to Belgrade a few years ago, and he expressed confidence that the economic ties between the two countries, as a part of further developing their strategic partnership, would significantly improve.

The Prime Minister of Serbia warmly thanked Azerbaijan for its support of Serbia's candidacy to host the specialized exhibition EXPO in 2027 and invited Azerbaijan to participate in this prestigious event, as added in the press release.
