Djuric thanks Ghanaian Foreign Minister for respecting Serbia’s territorial integrity

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today in New York with Ghanaian Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, whom he thanked for Ghana’s respect for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The two ministers agreed that Serbia and Ghana enjoyed well-developed bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In the spirit of traditionally friendly relations and with a view to strengthening cooperation through intensified political dialogue, Djuric invited Minister Ablakwa to pay a bilateral visit to Serbia, which would further enhance the partnership in areas of mutual interest.

Djuric once again thanked Ghana for its support for the preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and reiterated that “when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija, as one of the most important national and state issues, Serbia remains firmly committed to respecting international law and the Charter of the United Nations,” the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The foreign ministers of Serbia and Ghana also exchanged views on opportunities to intensify Serbia’s cooperation with the African Union and its participation in the organization’s activities and formats.

Referring to their recent meeting at the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the first Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, Djuric expressed satisfaction that Ghana had participated in the event at the highest level and that Belgrade had had the opportunity to host Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama. He also conveyed Serbia’s commitment to strengthening its presence and positioning on the African continent.

Regarding the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, in which Ghana will also participate, the two ministers discussed specific modalities and ways to ensure greater visibility and representation of Africa as a continent, as well as individual African countries, at the prestigious event hosted by Serbia.
