Djuric with Turner on the restriction of Serbs' rights to participate in the electoral process in Kosovo and Metohija
Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met in Washington with Congressman Michael Turner and informed him about the challenges faced by Belgrade, particularly regarding the security of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and attempts to restrict basic political rights, such as participation in the electoral process.
According to the statement, Djuric and Turner also discussed bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States and the further strengthening of political cooperation.
At the meeting, which was described as a continuation of talks initiated during Congressman Turner’s recent visit to Belgrade, support was reiterated for the prompt resumption of the strategic dialogue between the two countries, and it was noted that regular communication is an important prerequisite for stability and predictability in relations.
The discussion also focused on the current situation in the region. Djuric informed the congressman about the challenges faced by Belgrade, especially concerning the security of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and attempts to limit their basic political rights, including participation in the electoral process.
Planned activities in the US Congress related to the Western Balkans region were also reviewed.
