Dobrilovic: The European Parliament resolution is a political hunt against Serbia; punishment for independent policy and Kosovo

The resolution of the European Parliament on the elections in Serbia is a striking interference in the electoral process of a sovereign state and an attempt to punish Serbia for the independent policy it pursues, as well as for its refusal to relinquish Kosovo," Konstantin Dobrilovic, candidate for Member of the European Parliament for the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) assessed.

"The European Parliament resolution is not legally binding. It is an attempt by the left-liberal spectrum and certain civic options to re-educate Serbia's official policy. Serbia pursues an independent and sovereign policy," Dobrilovic emphasized in a statement to Kosovo Online.

He stressed that the resolution directly interfered in the electoral process of a sovereign state, and the specific evidence of intentional interference was the fact that it had been adopted before the official report of the OSCE had been published.

"Many international observers who monitored the elections in Serbia have emphasized that everything was fine, but upon returning to their countries, they began to criticize the electoral process. When blaming someone for something, it is necessary to have evidence. If the problem is that citizens of the Republic of Srpska, who have dual citizenship, voted, it is necessary to know that they have citizenship based on the Agreement on Special Relations," Dobrilovic explained.

He emphasized that it was unacceptable to impose ultimatums on a sovereign state and punish it for processes conducted on its territory.

"This is a political hunt against Serbia because it pursues a sovereign policy, because it did not join the EU sanctions, and because it does not want to give up the southern Serbian province. I would recommend that EU member states deal with their issues and the increasing protests of their citizens day by day, rather than adopting resolutions against other countries and the expressed will of the citizens. This is not the first European Parliament resolution negatively directed against Serbia. There have been resolutions against the Serbian Orthodox Church, accusing it of creating unrest in the former Yugoslav territories," Dobrilovic emphasized.

He pointed out that the FPO's stance on this issue was clear and that the head of the Austrian Freedom Party delegation in the European Parliament, Harald Vilimsky, had voted against the resolution.
