Drecun: Necessary strategic geopolitical agreement with the West and the US
Milovan Drecun, the president of the parliamentary committee for Kosovo and Metohija, said that Serbia had reached a situation where it needed a strategic geopolitical agreement with the West, because without intensifying cooperation with the US, the strongest power in the world, it could not count on a promising future.
Drecun also told TV Pink that Serbia had a basis for a strategic geopolitical agreement with the West because it was negotiating to enter the EU; had the highest form of cooperation with NATO; good cooperation with the US, while Germany was the most important foreign trade partner.
"These are the basics that we need to upgrade. The partnership agreement with the US is the missing link. President Vucic, after the conversation with (Advisor to the US Secretary of State, Derek) Chollet, said that talks on a strategic partnership with the US should start," Drecun said.
He added that Serbia had such partnerships agreed with Russia and China and assessed that this area was far from us, which was why it was important to position our place in the environment.
When it comes to the presentation of the report on Serbia and Kosovo in the committee of the European Parliament, Drecun said that it had been shown that resolutions "whatever they want" could be passed there and that they often worked for destabilization, not a solution.
"They can write what they want. I expect them to present the situation objectively, and to contribute to Serbia's European path, and not to be against the Serbs," Drecun said.
He told European Parliament rapporteur Vladimir Bilcik that, if he wanted to govern Serbia so much, he should first apply for citizenship and run in the elections.
Commenting on the information that the Kosovo Security Forces were training their snipers in Jordan, Drecun assessed that this was part of the strengthening of the military forces of Pristina, which had included the construction of bases, all in order to carry out the occupation of the north of Kosovo at one point.
He reminded that Pristina was protected by NATO, through KFOR, and assessed that the weapons it was acquiring "can't even be used against anyone else, except the Serbs."
"The so-called Kosovo Security Forces are a factor that pushes Kurti more and more into something that can lead to conflict," Drecun said.
He assessed that the danger of Pristina undertaking destabilizing activities was extremely high, but that the current message from the US was that they did not want destabilization.
"America decisively creates events; first the CSM, then the return of Serbian representatives to local self-governments, and then to continue discussions on the Franco-German proposal. Without that, the proposal cannot be discussed," Dreun said.
He added that it did not depend on Serbia whether the CSM would be formed in three or six months.
Drecun also assessed that there was "brutal pressure" on the President of Serbia, who, according to him, was being hit with all available means to change his policy.
