President of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Mohamed Abdel Hay El Orabi, states that his country is dedicated to preserving the sovereignty of all countries in the world and fully understands Serbia's position regarding Kosovo, especially in light of the current situation and ongoing events in the north, RTV reports.

On the occasion of the 115th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Serbia and Egypt, El Orabi, leading a delegation from the Council visiting Serbia, emphasized in an interview with today's "Politika" that the two countries share a long history nurtured by various factors, driven by the political will of leaders from both countries to enhance bilateral relations on political, economic, technical, and international levels.

"Egypt and Serbia, in light of their excellent political relations and their positions as key countries in their respective regions, aim to gain a broader perspective from each other regarding the current situation in the Middle East, the Balkans, the Mediterranean, as well as the international arena," El Orabi highlighted.

He emphasized that last year's visit to Serbia by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had been the most significant event in the relations between the two countries in the past few decades and it had laid a solid foundation for cooperation between numerous institutions on both sides in building and maintaining a successful strategic partnership.

Furthermore, he added that 12 memorandums of understanding had been signed during that visit, covering various areas such as art, culture, museums, investments, agriculture, environment, and education.

"Both sides have been engaged in negotiations on the modalities of implementing the signed memorandums of understanding, as well as exploring other areas of cooperation through ongoing negotiations on 10 new memorandums of understanding between the two countries," El Orabi said.

As he also mentioned, the two countries have initiated negotiations on a free trade zone, which, according to him, will facilitate an increase in bilateral trade between them.
