The Ambassador of Greece in Belgrade, Maria Levanti, stated that her country's position "regarding the recognition of Kosovo remains unchanged, as well as that Greece strongly supports Serbia in the matter of European integration".

In an interview for the balkantravel.rs portal, she also talked about new projects related to the energy connectivity of the countries of the Western Balkans.

To the statement that Greece is one of the five EU countries that did not recognize Kosovo, but last year there was speculation in the media about a change in that status, Ambassador Levanti replied that Greece's position on the non-recognition of Kosovo remained unchanged.

"Our position on the non-recognition of Kosovo remains unchanged. This was also confirmed at the highest level during the recent visit of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, to Serbia," the Greek Ambassador stated.

Speaking about Serbia's European integration, Levanti expressed her strong support for Belgrade on that path.

"Greece considers Serbia a factor of strategic importance for stability and security in the wider region. In this light, Greece has always been a firm and vocal supporter of Serbia's integration into the EU, firmly believing that it is Serbia's natural place. In addition, Greece is ready to provide any technical and practical assistance to Serbia's efforts to join the EU, if necessary," the Ambassador said.

Levanti reminded that the cooperation between the two countries had increased significantly in the past few years.
