Elek: The ambulance from the Clinical Hospital Center was released after more than five hours of detention without explanation
The Director of the Clinical Hospital Center in Kosovska Mitrovica, Dr. Zlatan Elek, confirmed to Kosovo Online that the ambulance from this institution had been released from the Customs Terminal after several hours of detention without explanation or any accompanying documents.
Elek recalled that the ambulance, along with all the medical equipment, and the driver, had been sent to the southern part of Mitrovica from the Bistrica checkpoint, even though they had had all the necessary paperwork.
"Even that was not enough, and a special customs team from Pristina arrived, counting each item. Despite having brought the dispatch note and all the proper documentation, the vehicle was held from 1:30 PM until just recently," Elek stated.
He reiterated that in recent times, every vehicle was stopped multiple times, workers were searched, and they were "pulled" from the vehicles.
As he emphasized, today's incident was a "combination of all of that".
"The vehicle was returned without any explanation or any accompanying paperwork. With today's detention, we now have over 225 such incidents in the past three to four months," Elek said.
