Spokesperson for the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Anita Hipper, stated that the European Union is calling on the Kosovo authorities to halt any further demolition of buildings in the Gazivode Lake area and, in cooperation with the affected residents and local authorities, to find lawful and sustainable solutions.
Responding to a question regarding the demolitions at Gazivode, Hipper said that the European Union regrets the destruction of the houses, "particularly given that the property claims remain the subject of ongoing judicial proceedings."
"The European Union calls on the Kosovo authorities to stop any further demolitions and, in cooperation with the affected residents and local authorities, to find lawful and sustainable solutions," she added.
According to Anita Hipper, all irreversible actions, including the demolition of buildings, should be suspended until the competent court issues a final decision on the outstanding property claims.
