Filipovic: The defense will appeal Trajkovic’s detention order; What the witnesses alleged is legally and factually impossible
Attorney Jovana Filipovic stated that the Serious Crimes Department of the Basic Court in Pristina has ordered up to 30 days of detention for Aleksandar Trajkovic from Ugljare, adding that the defense will file an appeal once it receives the court decision in Serbian.
“The detention measure was imposed solely and exclusively on the basis of statements made by two witnesses, who claimed something that truly has no connection with either logic or common sense, because everything those witnesses alleged is absolutely impossible, both legally and factually, for any person to have promised them,” Filipovic said.
She announced that the defense would submit an appeal after receiving the decision in Serbian.
“What we know for now is that Aleksandar will be transferred to the detention facility in Mitrovica,” Filipovic said.
She added that Trajkovic is suspected of committing a criminal offense under Article 212 of the Criminal Code, relating to the giving or receiving of bribes in connection with elections.
Last night, the Kosovo Police searched Trajkovic’s hospitality establishment and family home in Ugljare, after which he was taken in for questioning. Following the interview, he was placed in police custody.
