The Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that the house of Ratomir Trajkovic in the village of Ugljare, in Kosovo Polje, was broken into and robbed last night, with valuable items stolen and furniture and household belongings ransacked, stressing that this is yet another example of the difficult conditions in which the Serbian people live in Kosovo.

In its statement, the Office noted that Trajkovic, a local resident engaged in livestock farming who earns his living through hard work, realized that his home had been targeted by burglars when he returned from a wedding and found destruction, scattered belongings, and broken items throughout the house.

The statement recalled that this is already the second Serbian house to have been burglarized and robbed in Kosovo Polje within just a few days, as the home of Jordan and Slobodanka Ristic in the town itself had previously also been targeted by thieves.

“Although both incidents were reported to the so-called Kosovo Police, the perpetrators have not been identified, just as in numerous other cases in which Serbs and their property have been targeted,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija emphasized.

The Office further stated that this is yet another indication of the conditions in which the Serbian population lives.

“These examples demonstrate the extremely difficult conditions in which the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija live, as they are frequently targeted by security-related incidents, while attacks against them are neither properly investigated nor adequately resolved,” the statement added.
