The German Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) announced that on Monday, January 30, it would publish the draft statute of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, which had also been reformulated as the "Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Kosovo in which the Kosovo Serb community is in majority," Reporteri reported.

In the official invitation to the event, it is stated that it was about the presentation of the statute of the "Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Kosovo in which the Kosovo Serb community is in majority", which, it is added, had been drafted in partnership with the European Institute for Peace.

In the statement, FES reminds that last year they joined forces with the European Institute for Peace and organized a series of workshops "on unresolved issues between Kosovo and Serbia", during which they discussed and dealt with the most urgent issues and challenges related to the implementation of the first agreement for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which preceded the drafting of the statute.

They add that the process of drafting the statute included consultations with experts, academics, and professionals who work or participate in the Brussels Dialogue.

"Therefore, in a highly politically instrumentalized environment, the publication of our version of the draft should be seen more as a starting point for an evidence-based contribution," the FES statement said.

It is added that they wanted to encourage a public discussion and offer recommendations on the formation of the CSM.

"Our work was driven only by the motivation to contribute to the beginning of a significant public debate and to offer our recommendations formed through relevant domestic and international expertise, as we have done in the past on various political and socio-economic issues," the FES statement states.
