Geci: We were the first to shoot at the Serbian forces in 1992, we were looking for a suitable moment for weeks

Xhevahir Geci, one of Adem Jashari's closest comrades-in-arms and the first KLA soldiers, said that the first attack on Serbian forces was carried out on July 7, 1992, Gazeta Express reports. 

Geci told T7 that he, Gani Geci and Agim Geci participated in that attack which could be regarded as the first attack against Serbian forces in all of Kosovo.

Geci stated that they had been looking for suitable circumstances to carry out the attack for weeks.

"That was the first action of the KLA in the street in Srbica. The first three men who carried out the first attack. We went out dozens of times to catch the Serbian forces in a convenient place, without causing any harm to anyone. We went out with Gani dozens of times. "Nothing happened and we would go back. After a week we went out and finished, between two schools, at midnight," Geci said.

Geci says that "the action was successful and caused damage to the Serbian forces". According to him, it was the first time they used weapons against the Serbian forces.

Geci said that at the time of the attack they were young, 22 or 23 years old, and that their commander and inspiration was Adem Jashari.

Speaking about the former president Hashim Thaci, he said that he, like the former president of the Assembly Kadri Veseli, was part of the first cells of the KLA, better known as Adem Jashari's group, Reporteri reports.

As he said, Thaci was the coordinator of the attack against the Serbian forces in Runik in 1993 and participated in the attacks in Glogovac.
