Ramadani: Kurti government lacks clear goals and a work plan
Alliance MP Burim Ramadani said that the lack of a work plan was not a new problem for Albin Kurti’s government, arguing that the government had also operated without a proper plan during its previous term, while decisions were made on an ad hoc basis and in line with party interests, Kosovo Press reports.
Ramadani also criticized the way the legislative agenda is determined, saying that legislative initiatives do not stem from clearly defined government policy objectives but largely originate from the institutions’ administrative and professional staff.
“Unfortunately, we have seen this government structure go through an entire term without a work plan. All decisions were made on an ad hoc, case-by-case basis, in line with party interests and objectives. The same thing, the same story, is repeating itself now. We have seen that there was no initial presentation, that there is no work plan, no clarity and no clearly defined objectives, while at the same time there is an entire series of draft laws that largely appear to have originated from the administration rather than at the political level,” Ramadani said.
He added that an analysis of the legislative plan clearly showed, in his view, that the initiatives had originated with professional and administrative staff rather than from the political goals and priorities that a government should have.
“The government must clearly define where it wants Kosovo to be in four years, that is, at the end of its term. Based on that, it should establish its objectives, as well as the laws, activities and decisions needed to achieve them. And that is precisely what is missing.
“It is missing because we have an outdated governing class. The politics pursued by Mr. Kurti and his government are outdated. This is an obsolete political approach that does not contribute to innovative development and does not meet the demands and needs of Kosovo’s youth,” Ramadani said.
