Gouillon responds to Mandel: Since Kurti took office – 81 cases of ethnically motivated physical violence against Serbs

Regarding the claim that Kosovo is a "model of peaceful coexistence among different nations and religions," the Director of the Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Government of Serbia, Arnaud Gouillon, responded to MEP Lukas Mandl with precise data, including the fact that since Albin Kurti took office, there have been as many as 81 cases of ethnically motivated physical violence against Serbs in Kosovo, and just last year alone, 126 cases of ethnically motivated incidents targeting the Serbian population were recorded.

Gouillon shared two maps on the social network "X," along with data on recorded incidents and attacks, to refute Mandl’s claim.

One of the maps lists documented cases of ethnically motivated physical violence against Serbs in Kosovo during Albin Kurti’s government, from January 1, 2021, to October 26 of last year.

"Since Albin Kurti took office in Pristina, 81 cases of ethnically motivated physical violence against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija have been recorded. Of these 81, 46 were committed by Albanians, while 35 were carried out by the Kosovo Police," Gouillon stated.

He also pointed out that, according to publicly available information, none of these cases have resulted in a court verdict.

Among the attacks on Serbs, he highlighted the shooting of two Serbian boys on Christmas Eve in Gotovusa near Strpce in 2023, cases of Serbs being beaten by the Kosovo Police, the continuous harassment of Dragica Gasic, the only Serbian returnee in Djakovica, and more.

The second map shows that just last year alone, 126 ethnically motivated incidents against Serbs were recorded in Kosovo.

According to publicly available data, very few of these incidents have been legally resolved, while the Pristina government continues to enforce police brutality in the Serb-majority north of Kosovo, Gouillon emphasized through these maps.
