Hill: Agreements between Belgrade and Pristina are not an easy process; concrete implementation is expected

The Ambassador of the United States of America in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, said today that the Ohrid Agreement, as well as other agreements between Belgrade and Pristina, were not an easy process, adding that the moment had come when concrete implementation was expected.

In his statement to journalists in Valjevo, Hill stated that a key moment had been reached – implementation, which he assessed as a difficult moment.

"With respect to the Ohrid Agreement and other agreements, I do not suggest for one minute that this is an easy process. We are getting to a point where we are going to need to see some real follow-up in terms of implementation. I think it's a difficult moment, but I also think it is a hopeful moment where this issue can be put behind us," Hill said.

Hill added that the issue of Kosovo should be seen as a regional issue in the context of the Open Balkan.

As he says, in this initiative, the Western Balkans countries are cooperating and working together.

"I think this is part of the process that will lead Serbia to greater cooperation and ultimately to its membership in the European Union. The United States is very supportive of this process of cooperation within the framework of the Open Balkan and joining the European Union," Hill said.
