A new mode of communication in international relations is being legitimized, in which force, "and only it," decides what is right, says former FR Yugoslavia ambassador to Germany, Zoran Jeremic, commenting on the reactions of the US and German ambassadors in Kosovo regarding the arrest of Kosovo Police officers. He points out that the absence of reactions when Serbs from Kosovo are arrested is "the other side of the same coin."

Regarding how much the statements of Hovenier and Rohde align with diplomatic rules, Jeremic notes that diplomacy in these segments is very flexible and usually adapts to the conditions and whoever uses it.

"Clearly, these ambassadors believe that everything is allowed for them and that they can do whatever they deem necessary. That is the logic of the great powers. He simply evaluates politically the decisions that should go through normal, judicial, and customary routes, and it is highly unusual for such decisions to be commented on in this way, by such individuals, and with formulations that already prejudge - in this case one side. It is not usual, but, you know, it is also not usual for someone to bomb you and take part of your territory, and then it passes. This legitimizes a new way of communication in international relations, where force, and only it, decides what is right and what is not," our interlocutor declares.

The absence of reactions when Serbs from Kosovo are arrested is actually a political message.

"These arrests of Serbs in Kosovo do not happen because Kurti wants them, nor because it is some political or judicial procedure. It is simply part of a political action for which Kurti has the support of certain circles, and then such statements only help him to continue in that direction. The goal is actually further destabilization of the situation in Kosovo despite the declarative assertions that the intention of those who support him is the opposite," states Jeremic.

He explains that the goal of the message from Western ambassadors is to give everything a political framework and to ensure that all further legal proceedings that might be initiated are overshadowed by their decisions.

"It is simply part of a much broader concept of the politics of violence by the powerful. We as a world and civilization are entering a period of violence. We are probably not aware of this, and these are just early signals of future events, such as the bombing of Serbia was a signal for a great danger looming over the world, which was followed by events we witness - in Ukraine, Palestine, and all this, with yet immeasurable consequences. Thus, this is just an announcement of a new element of violence: political, legal, moral," evaluates Jeremic.

Regarding the impact that such actions by Western diplomats can have on the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Jeremic responds that the dialogue has long ceased to exist.

"Conversations are held, there is some communication, but it is not a dialogue, it is not a search for compromise. It is an attempt to implement a policy that was previously outlined and to realize what those powers had intended at that time, which means to reduce Serbia's influence on Kosovo as much as possible and to highlight the statehood of the so-called Kosovo," Jeremic declares.
