Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he sent the letter to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte so that there would be a written record that he had warned about what he described as Albin Kurti's recklessness, adding that he expects a response by Monday or Tuesday.

“What kind of response would I like to hear? That is clear to everyone. And whether I will get it? I believe I will. By Monday or Tuesday. I believe Rutte will call me on the phone so that we can talk,” Vucic told reporters.

He stressed that he also wanted there to be a written record that he had warned about the consequences of what he described as Albanian recklessness and Albin Kurti's recklessness.

“But I am absolutely certain that I will receive a response. Rutte is a responsible man,” Vucic added.

He also noted that he expects additional pressure on Serbs in Kosovo.

Yesterday, Vucic sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in which he expressed deep concern over KFOR's decision to withdraw from the bridge over the Ibar and involve the Kosovo Police in the “security architecture” in the area of the Visoki Decani Monastery. He stressed that the move was premature and that KFOR's security assessments had not adequately identified all the risks to the security of the Serbian and other non-Albanian population in northern Kosovo, as well as to the security of the monastery, which is a jewel of Serbian and world cultural heritage.
