Jevtic: The CSM for the Serbs in Kosovo is a vital issue; part of the opposition in Belgrade speaks like Kurti

The mayor of Strpce, Dalibor Jevtic, said that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was a vital issue for the Serbs in Kosovo, adding that part of the opposition in Belgrade in its comments against the CSM cited the same arguments as Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, RTV reports.

Jevtic pointed out that Kurti was talking about the fact that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities did not have special powers, but that the fact that the CSM was a vital issue for the Serbs in Kosovo because, as he says, that community, according to what was agreed in Brussels, will have powers that related to economic and life organization.
He specified that the CSM should have a president and an assembly and that these would be the bodies that would decide on the life of Serbs in Kosovo.

"Whoever has something against that, has something against the life of the Serbs in these areas. You cannot talk about the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities in a different way just because it is a topic on which President Aleksandar Vucic will be attacked," Jevtic told Tanjug.

His impression, he says, is that part of the opposition is not attacking the agreement and dialogue, but the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

"And that is the biggest problem we have today," Jevtic said and recalled the unpleasant scenes in the Serbian Parliament when Kosovo had been discussed, adding that they had sent a negative message to the world.

He assesses that such actions of the opposition negatively affect the position of the Serbs in Kosovo and their lives.

"I understand certain day-to-day political needs of the parties, but Kosovo is not a place where they should be guided by that," Jevtic emphasized.

He added that decisions had to be made that would preserve the peace and life of the Serbs in Kosovo.

Jevtic emphasized that the CSM was important for the Serbs in Kosovo for many reasons.

"Imagine that Pristina, with one more unilateral decision, abolishes, for example, payment transactions, and the CSM foresees that financing from central Serbia goes through the CSM, and that is of vital importance for us, let me also add health care, economic potentials that today we cannot use such as of the Brezovica ski center. All of this is fundamentally important," Jevtic said.

He also pointed out the example of the municipality of Strpce, which, as he said, had not received consent and a license to provide communal services on its territory for more than a year.

"And that is just one more proof that today Pristina does everything, even in technical matters, that the Serbs who live there do not have the opportunity to properly manage their lives," Jevtic said.
