Jevtic: I expect the international community to prevent Kurti from expelling all Serbs

The President of Strpce Municipality, Dalibor Jevtic, stated that the Community of Serb Municipalities was a crucial issue for the lives of Serbs in Kosovo because, through it, they could solve numerous problems, such as the issue of abolishing the dinar and financial transactions. He expressed hope to Studio B that the international community would prevent the regime in Pristina and Prime Minister Albin Kurti from expelling all Serbs.

"Day by day, it becomes increasingly difficult due to the decision to abolish the dinar, but also due to previous decisions of the current regime in Pristina, which is doing everything to force Serbs to leave Kosovo. We are warning representatives of the international community because we hold them responsible for preventing a humanitarian catastrophe that could happen to us. We expect that they will reach a resolution regarding the Central Bank Regulation related to the abolition of the dinar and that an agreement will be reached allowing Serbs and members of other communities in Kosovo and Metohija to receive their incomes from the budget of the Republic of Serbia," Jevtic emphasized for Studio B.

As he reminded, yesterday was April 1st, marking two months without the dinar in Kosovo.

"The oldest and sickest who cannot go to central Serbia continually point out their difficult situation. Together with Serbia, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and President Aleksandar Vucic, we are doing everything to help solve or mitigate the problem, expecting a resolution in Brussels on April 4th. We know and do not expect Pristina to do anything about it, but we hope that the international community will do so to prevent Kurti from expelling the Serbian people. We have had different tones and assurances that the action of the international community would prevent harmful actions and decisions made by Kurti. But the international community allows Pristina to do many things, proving that the situation is absurd, as Kosovo is rewarded for something it should not be, and EU and US representatives have sent us different messages during meetings," the Mayor of Strpce emphasized.

When asked if he thinks the Community of Serb Municipalities will be formed, as Gabriel Escobar, the assistant to the US President for the Western Balkans, has appealed for, Jevtic says he does not expect it from Kurti.

"We are 4,000 days away from the CSM. The fact that so much time has passed confirms that we have been betrayed in this process as well. Someone lied to us and only bought time, and as time passes, it becomes increasingly difficult for Serbs. If anyone in the international community remains silent about this, then they are an accomplice to Kurti. We warn about this and want to move from words to action. However, knowing that parliamentary elections in Kosovo are potentially approaching, I do not expect the regime to give anything to Serbs," Jevtic stressed.

He emphasizes that the Community of Serb Municipalities is a crucial issue for Serbs in Kosovo.

"We expect to avoid all problems like those with the dinar through the CSM. It is important to have an institutionalized protection system, and that is the Community of Serb Municipalities for us. We do not expect Kurti to establish it, but we expect it from the international community. If we talk about trust, how can we trust them if even what was previously agreed upon has not been implemented? We will insist on the CSM to those who are the guarantors of that agreement, such as the EU and representatives of the international community," Jevtic pointed out.
