Kosovo Online has learned: Kosovo Police raided post offices and municipal buildings without a search warrant

Today, the Kosovo Police raided the buildings of post offices and Provisional Authorities in municipalities south of the Ibar River, although, as Kosovo Online has learned, they did not have a search warrant.
One of the Kosovo Police inspectors told those gathered at the post office in Gracanica only that he had an oral order, but although he is legally required to state which judge issued the oral order, he did not do so.
As Kosovo Online has learned, the judges from whom the Kosovo Police requested a search warrant refused to grant it – either in writing or orally.
Given that today’s action by the Kosovo Police is not considered a criminal investigation, its members could have only been there to provide security and safety.
Under Kosovo law, officials first deliver a letter to the property owner requesting information, such as business records or permits, and only if they are unsatisfied with the documentation must they seek a court order to close the office.
As our portal has learned, the Kosovo Police did not receive a search warrant from the court.
