The United States shared security assessments with Kosovo's President Vjosa Osmani regarding the risk to the lives of American soldiers in Kosovo, stated the President's media advisor, Bekim Kupina.

“Regarding the question of whether the Presidency of Kosovo received any official warning from NATO or any other international factor, we confirm that the U.S. shared security assessments with the President concerning the risk to the lives of American soldiers, who have always defended the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and lives of our citizens,” Kupina told Reporteri.

He added that U.S. representatives, in none of the meetings with President Osmani, expressed opposition to the opening of the bridge on the Ibar River, but instead, he said, they sought cooperation in determining the most appropriate time for it.

“In the meetings we had, the U.S. never expressed opposition to the opening of the bridge to the President; rather, they only requested cooperation in determining the most suitable time from a security standpoint and in building a joint plan for the realization of the bridge's opening, in the interest of all citizens,” Kupina stated.
