Lavrov with Dacic: Russia will support the resolution of the Kosovo issue in line with Serbia’s interests

The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dacic, held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, who reiterated Russia’s principled position regarding the preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, emphasizing that the Russian side will support the resolution of the Kosovo issue in accordance with Serbia’s interests and the principles of international law.

As stated in the press release of the Ministry of the Interior of Serbia, Dacic and Lavrov underlined their commitment to the policy pursued by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, aimed at developing and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached by the presidents in the field of energy.

Dacic thanked Russia for its cooperation to date in the fields of internal affairs and emergency situations and expressed confidence that it will be even more successful in the coming period, based on the foundations of strategic partnership, centuries-old friendship, the closeness of brotherly nations, well-developed cooperation in all areas, as well as strong mutual support and understanding.

The two ministers expressed their firm belief that they will meet at the earliest opportunity, and Dacic thanked Lavrov for his letter of support while he was in the intensive care unit of the Clinical Center of Serbia.

He added that Lavrov’s words of support and strong belief that, in difficult moments, inexhaustible energy and spiritual strength would help him overcome the illness and return to the ranks of true patriots of his country represented a great encouragement in his recovery.
