Macut meets with Iranian ambassador: Strong bilateral relations, Serbia grateful for Iran’s non-recognition of Kosovo

Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut met today with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belgrade, Mohammad Sadegh Fazli, to whom he conveyed Serbia’s appreciation for Iran’s continued policy of not recognizing the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo.

Prime Minister Macut highlighted the importance of further strengthening the political dialogue and underlined that Serbia remains committed to developing partnership relations with Iran, founded on mutual respect and understanding, the Government of Serbia said in its statement.

He noted that cooperation could be further advanced in the fields of medicine, education, trade, science, sports, and culture.

Macut emphasized that bilateral relations between Serbia and Iran are at a high level, reiterating Serbia’s gratitude to Tehran for its principled position on Kosovo.

Ambassador Fazli expressed Iran’s readiness to continue enhancing cooperation across several sectors and to further strengthen ties between the two peoples.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular communication with a view to advancing the comprehensive relationship between the two countries.
