Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut stated today at the panel “Strengthening Democratic Resilience and Addressing Hybrid Threats,” held as part of the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, that Serbia remains firmly committed to European integration and the strengthening of shared values.

At the panel, chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, Macut participated alongside Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Andorra Xavier Espot Zamora, and Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Becirovic.

Macut emphasized that Serbia remains firmly committed to European integration and to strengthening shared values such as democracy, the rule of law, and collective security.

“What we are protecting are not only systems, but the values that define us as democratic societies,” the Serbian Prime Minister said.

Macut noted that hybrid threats such as disinformation, cyberattacks, economic pressure, and political interference are aimed not only at weakening states, but also at undermining trust in institutions and democratic processes.

According to him, for Serbia these challenges are not abstract, but a reality, given its geopolitical position.

“Strengthening democratic resilience is not only a political objective, but a necessity,” he added, noting that this is also reflected in the efforts of the European Union to counter hybrid threats.

The Serbian Prime Minister stressed that, in addition to institutions, the role of citizens is crucial, highlighting the importance of education, as well as media and digital literacy, as the strongest defense against disinformation.
