Hoxha: We will file a criminal complaint against Dehari
Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Eliza Hoxha said that a criminal complaint would be filed against Self-Determination Movement MP Avni Dehari for failing to continue the constitutive session, Koha reported.
"This is a violation that Mr. Dehari is committing against the MPs of the Republic of Kosovo, who were elected by the people, by refusing to allow the constitutive session to continue, even though he is required to do so under the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, which were adopted by a two-thirds majority. This constitutes a violation of the law and a failure to perform his duties. In this case, I believe that a criminal complaint will be filed over his deliberate failure to perform his duties. There is a legal basis for doing so," Hoxha told KTV.
Hoxha said that Kosovo was currently "being held hostage and operating outside constitutional norms."
"In this case, we have power being exercised over the state. The Constitution cannot apply to some and not to others. The law cannot apply to some and not to others. The Rules of Procedure of the Assembly cannot apply to some and not to others. A precedent is being created here, and tomorrow you cannot tell citizens, businesses, and operators doing business in Kosovo to respect the law when you have completely altered the way the law itself is implemented," Hoxha said.
She added that, in order to create a "political context for dialogue," tensions had to be lowered, Koha reported.
"There must be genuine courtesy. The first thing Mr. Kurti must do—he is the winner of the election—is understand that if the people entrust you with forming a government, you must use that trust in the best possible way. If you approach it with arrogance and turn it into entrenchment, that leads nowhere except toward autocracy. In the last election, Kurti even asked for 80 MPs to do whatever he wanted. It is up to the people to decide whether they want all instruments of power and decision-making to be held by one person, with that person standing above the state, as is the case today even with fewer votes," Hoxha said.
According to her, if Albin Kurti wants Kosovo to move forward, consensus must be reached, as was done in the past.
