Maliqi: There will be no stability in Kosovo until May next year

Political analyst Shkelzen Maliqi stated that stability in Kosovo should not be expected until May of next year, noting that the December elections could lead to a new crisis.

In the draft text of the European Union Council on enlargement, as Koha reports, it is stated that Kosovo will once again be required to begin forming the Community of Serb Municipalities without delay and to start delivering results on the obligations from the 2023 agreement, while the transfer of local authority in the north is one of the conditions for further lifting of the European Union’s measures against Kosovo.

On this issue, Maliqi told Kosovo Online that it is unclear when Kosovo will have a new government.

"The situation around the elections is delicate. We do not know when we will have a new government, since this entire year has passed in games, tricks, and postponements dictated by Kurti. The elections will be held at the end of December, and once the counting is done and the results become clear, that may take two to three months, and a new crisis may even break out. It is also expected that the president of Kosovo will resign, leading immediately to new elections. There will be many complications, and we will not have stability until May," Maliqi said.
