The United States Embassy in Pristina said that the Strategic Dialogue with Kosovo was expected to resume once the appropriate conditions were in place, including the fulfillment of Kosovo’s commitments to the Serbian community.

In a written response to Klan Kosova, a spokesperson for the US Embassy recalled that the United States had indefinitely suspended the Strategic Dialogue with Kosovo in September last year over concerns regarding the actions of the then caretaker government.

“We remain committed to advancing the shared interests of the United States and the people of Kosovo. We look forward to conducting a Strategic Dialogue with Kosovo when the appropriate conditions are in place, including the fulfillment of commitments Kosovo has made with respect to Kosovo Serbs,” the response said.

The same message was conveyed by the US State Department less than ten days ago.

Opposition parties have called for the Strategic Dialogue with the United States to resume as soon as possible, while the Self-Determination Movement has said that Kosovo continues to cooperate closely with the United States and that these processes will be further advanced in the coming period.

Kosovo President Justina Shiroka Pulja also stressed the need for the urgent resumption of the Kosovo-US Strategic Dialogue during her recent meeting with US Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Dick Durbin, describing it as a key instrument for deepening the partnership and advancing shared priorities.
