Markovic: The West's double game, aware of all of Kurti's actions
Nikola Markovic, a collaborator at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, believes that the West, despite issuing harsh statements for a long time, is playing a "double game" regarding Pristina's unilateral actions and was aware of recent moves, including the forcible takeover of Serbian institutions in northern Kosovo.
"This double game has been going on for a long time. It is a serious process that has been unfolding since the declaration of Kosovo's independence to the present day. Both sides are always called to exercise restraint, yet one side is, in fact, making moves against the survival of the other, in this case, the Serbs. I believe that these two policies, those of the West and the Kosovo administration, are well-coordinated, and if there are any obstructions from that direction, they will be resolved through mutual agreement, and this is about the actions that are deeply aligned," Markovic stated for Kosovo Online.
Commenting on the statement by the Minister of Administration and Local Government, Elbert Krasniqi, Markovic believes that this statement is accurate and that the Western administration was informed of the latest moves by Albin Kurti's administration.
"This is also indicated by similar statements from Vjosa Osmani and an identical statement from Miroslav Lajcak regarding the opening of the bridge on the Ibar River. They said that the bridge would be opened, and it was only a matter of coordinating the date and the agreement between the Western administration, the Serbs, and the Kosovo authorities. This suggests that the action is coordinated. On the other hand, we see that new Kosovo Police bases are being opened in the north with the aim of pressuring KFOR to open the bridge on the Ibar," Markovic concluded.
