Milovic: Stoltenberg's statement instills hope for a peaceful resolution of the crisis; we won't leave our workplaces
Deputy Director of the Clinical Hospital Center Kosovska Mitrovica, Dragisa Milovic, conveyed to Kosovo Online that the statement from NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, emphasizing the need for permission for KSF deployment to the north and consultations with KFOR regarding Kosovo Police actions, instills some hope for a peaceful resolution of the crisis in the north, which had persisted for several months and, as he noted, had been sparked by unilateral actions by Pristina.
Milovic welcomed Stoltenberg's decision to promote dialogue as the only means to resolve all outstanding issues between Belgrade and Pristina.
"We expect, and the opportunity is now, that on September 14th in Brussels, solutions will be found through dialogue for everything that has not been agreed upon so far," he said.
Regarding the possibility of de-escalation, considering that authorities in Pristina make daily moves that lead to escalation, from usurping Serbia's state property to attempting to evict the offices in the building in Bosniak Mahala, housing the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Provincial Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the Social Welfare Center in Vucitrn, and the Kosovo-Mitrovica Administrative District, Milovic stated, "We witness every day that there is no de-escalation."
"Unfortunately, pressure on Serbs continues. Now we see attempts to take over institutions where Serbs have worked for years, even decades, to leave them without jobs and make their already difficult lives even harder, all in an attempt to push us out of our ancestral lands. We won't leave our homes and workplaces; we will continue to work because we were born here, this is our own, and it will remain so," Milovic emphasized.
He also mentioned that workers in institutions, whose eviction was required as per the decision of North Mitrovica Mayor Erden Atiq, had spent the previous night in the building in Bosniak Mahala.
"They are now trying to take away our right to work. Just as they attempt to take away our right to medical treatment, freedom of movement, so basic human rights are being violated, and this is already known to the representatives of the international community. We indeed expect a much clearer and more significant voice from the representatives of the international community present here in Kosovo and Metohija under UN Security Council Resolution 1244, to ensure a safe life for everyone in Kosovo and Metohija," Milovic concluded.
