Muhaxheri: The Government of Kosovo should review the decision on fines
Analyst Artan Muhaxheri pointed out that, after the constant demands of international allies to postpone the deadline for conversion of the vehicle license plates into RKS, the most appropriate decision would be for the Government of Kosovo to review the measure on fines, which will come into force on November 21, Lajmi reports.
"The most rational decision would be that the Government of Kosovo reconsiders the decision on fines after the constant demands of international allies, who fear any major escalation, which would set Kosovo back in the dialogue process, but also in other vital institutional processes," Muhaxheri said.
University professor Dritero Arifi said that the Serbs would certainly not pay the imposed fines, and added that if the Kosovo institutions did not have the power to fully implement the decision, then the decision should be reconsidered.
"The decision should be reconsidered, because ethnic tensions could raise because of a technical decision, therefore this decision seems very reckless if we don't have the power to implement it in its entirety," Arifi said.
The USA and the EU continuously asked for from the Government of Kosovo to postpone the decision for at least 10 months, but since November 1 the Kosovo Government has been implementing the decision on reprimand, while after November 21, it begins to punish citizens who do not replace the vehicle license plates.
