Muhaxhiri: The opposition has learned its lesson, and it is also striving to gain the votes of the diaspora
Analyst Artan Muhaxhiri points out that, ahead of the parliamentary elections, all parties are striving to win over diaspora votes. According to him, opposition parties are now significantly more active in the United States and Europe than during the previous elections, which could influence the election results.
"In the previous elections, people came by plane and bus to vote for Kurti, which was one of the factors that helped him gain over 50 percent of the votes, while DSK, DPK, and ABK were inactive and made no effort to engage with the diaspora. They have learned their lesson and now want to change that," says Muhaxhiri.
This time, he adds, all parties want to revive their connections within the diaspora and use them for political gains.
"They are traveling to America or around Europe. DSK representatives are reconnecting with people who were part of their structure in the 1990s, while DPK and ABK are engaging with people linked to the war and commanders. However, I think this is only temporary because no party has a genuine plan to integrate the diaspora and build connections with entrepreneurs and business people. Instead, they aim to win their votes through patriotic rhetoric and populism," the analyst highlights.
